Rashtriya Military Schools: A Legacy of Excellence
Rashtriya Military Schools were originally established as King George’s Royal Indian Military Schools to provide quality education to the sons of defense personnel. In 1952, these schools were reorganized along public school lines, opening admissions to the sons of both Defence Service Officers and civilians.
In 1954, the schools became proud members of the Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC), a distinction they maintain to this day. In 1966, the schools were renamed Military Schools, and their original motto, “Play the Game,” was replaced with “Sheelem Param Bhushanam,” meaning “Character is the Highest Virtue.”
On June 25, 2007, they were officially renamed Rashtriya Military Schools. Over the years, these institutions have nurtured countless alumni who have excelled in the Armed Forces and various other fields, contributing significantly to the service of the nation. Rashtriya Military Schools continue to uphold their legacy of discipline, character, and excellence.
